Judo Terminology
Beginners
You are expected to wear loose fitting clothing (e.g. a sweatshirt and jogging bottoms) at the first few lessons, and thereafter we can arrange to order you a judo suit at wholesale price.
We will expect all players 8+ to become members of the BJA after an initial period of instruction.
Junior Players
Upon receipt of a licence Junior players are awarded a red belt. The grades (mons) are awarded up to 6th mon by assessing the players knowledge of Judo techniques.
LBJC hold their own grading assessments every three months.
After gaining their 6th mon (yellow belt three stripes) players will first have to be examined on their theory within the club, and then attend a county grading to compete in order to be assessed for their grade.
Senior Players
Once they hold their licences, after an initial period, players can be examined on their theory within the club. After doing their theory players must compete in order to be assessed for their grade
